About The Position

The Custodian performs custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks to keep buildings and facilities healthy, safe, and sanitary. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques or willingness to learn them is essential. The custodian cares for the main building, facilities, and equipment, helping ensure the health, safety, and security of the public. The role reports to the Lead Custodian and the Custodial Supervisor.

Requirements

Ability to operate and use tools and equipment.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Basic knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices, cleaning products, and their use.
Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend, and lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

Collect trash, replace garbage liners, and clean garbage receptacles as required.
Work between multiple locations.
Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and horizontal surfaces as required.
Vacuum carpeted areas and mop tile and concrete floors as required.
Wash and disinfect restrooms, and restock restroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, paper dispensers, and soap dispensers as required.
Empty washroom trash and clean mirrors, walls, and toilet partitions.
Clean window sills and windows.
Perform or report minor maintenance repairs and damages.
Keep janitor closets clean, organized, and safe.
Keep janitorial equipment clean, safe, and operable.
Properly label, dilute, and use chemicals.
Wear proper personal protective equipment at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
