About The Position

The Custodian performs assigned custodial tasks at the job location, including general cleaning of restrooms, offices, cafeterias, sales floors, and other areas as assigned. Duties include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, buffing, scrubbing, and using equipment such as scrubbers, extractors, and buffers. Work is completed according to the defined scope of work, customer requests, company schedules, and applicable safety and company guidelines. The role may involve night, early-morning, weekend, and holiday work. The posted schedule is first shift, weekends, Monday–Saturday 5–10 and Sunday 7–12 p.m. The position is part-time and reports to Andrew Jones.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment and methods, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and applying finishes to different flooring materials.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes and of the qualities and uses of cleaning, sanitizing, stripping, and waxing compounds.
Experience cleaning and sanitizing washrooms.
Ability to follow workplace safety rules, practice safe work habits, use appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to a Supervisor.
Ability to follow directions and work within guidelines.
Ability to read, understand, and follow units of measure on product labels.
Satisfactory personal appearance and hygiene within company guidelines.
Ability to read and communicate in English.
Ability to operate small power tools.
Ability to work independently and in stressful environments.
Ability to perform physical work, including moving, lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and squatting.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, turn, and reach into areas that are not fully air-conditioned.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including climbing and descending stairwells and ladders.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
One to two years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning services.
Ability to maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner and in accordance with company guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

Perform general custodial tasks as directed by the Lead Custodian or Supervisor.
Safely operate floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning according to proper usage and the agreed schedule.
Follow safety guidelines, company policies and procedures, customer-service expectations, attire requirements, working-condition rules, and timekeeping procedures.
Complete assignments according to the company schedule and customer expectations.
Wear a uniform at worksites where required.
Empty wastebaskets and replace liners as needed.
Dust and clean office furniture, desks, and tables.
Vacuum carpeting and spot-clean soiled areas when needed.
Clean and sanitize toilets, basins, and urinals; clean counters, mirrors, and fixtures.
Sweep and damp-mop floors with disinfectant; spot-clean walls, partitions, and doors.
Refill restroom dispensers as needed.
Wipe and clean table tops, chairs, vending machines, and appliances.
Clean sinks and damp-mop tile floors.
Follow oral and written instructions and work effectively independently and with a team.
Attend periodic training and safety meetings.
Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance.
