About The Position

This position performs a variety of skilled and unskilled custodial care and maintenance tasks in County buildings. Work is typically performed indoors and outdoors on building grounds. The role requires independent completion of scheduled daily activities, safe use of equipment and tools, and the ability to sustain physical effort throughout the shift. Employees may also perform related duties as required by proper authority.

Requirements

At least six months of custodial experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid State of Georgia driver's license.
Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and ground maintenance.
Knowledge of equipment and supplies used for minor repairs.
Knowledge of proper and safe building-maintenance techniques.
Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule.
Ability to walk and stand for long periods.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to establish effective working relationships.
Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending and walking and lifting objects weighing more than 40 pounds.
Ability to maintain continuous physical effort throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

Change light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, shampoo, steam clean, strip, wax, polish, and buff floors, carpets, furniture, and other surfaces.
Empty trash and garbage and reline cans.
Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies; clean spills, drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, and light fixtures.
Wash windows, walls, and metal and woodwork.
Clean rain gutters and sweep roofs and sidewalks.
Pick up litter around buildings and grounds.
Open, close, lock, and unlock facilities as needed.
Distribute maintenance supplies.
Drive to various County buildings to perform custodial work.
Perform other related duties as required by proper authority.
