About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas. The role performs janitorial work and daily scheduled duties, maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, and carries out hazardous-waste responsibilities such as collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian follows safety procedures, uses appropriate personal protective equipment, reports incidents and hazardous conditions, and works cooperatively with colleagues and customers. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Complete all required safety and task training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Nice To Haves

Three to six months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual ability.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Perform hazardous-waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the assigned area and cleaning equipment.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior by oneself or others.
Work with other employees as a team and perform repetitive tasks.
Maintain a clean work area and follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
Take direction and respond to supervision.
Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Use proper personal protective equipment and maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the work environment.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities when necessary to perform essential functions.
