About The Position

Under general supervision, to clean and maintain assigned school buildings and grounds, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, corridors, and other areas; to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks; and to do related work as required. This position is 12 months / 8 hours.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, scrub, wax and polish floors, and vacuum rugs and carpets in assigned areas.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers, and locker rooms; replenish restroom supplies.
Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
Empty trash and recycling receptacles and remove refuse to designated areas.
Clean and dust furniture, chalkboards, and other surfaces.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, tightening screws, and making minor adjustments to furniture and equipment.
Report major repair needs to supervisor.
Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners.
Maintain grounds as needed, including sweeping walkways and picking up litter.
Assist with setting up and removing furniture for special events or meetings.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
