About The Position
Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, provides basic health services to students in a school setting. Assists with student health needs, maintains health records, and ensures a safe and healthy school environment. This role involves direct interaction with students, parents, and school staff to address health-related concerns and provide support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent program.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with children or in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic health care procedures and terminology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Basic computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a School Health Assistant or similar role.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Administer basic first aid and emergency care to students as needed.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions and implement care plans.
- Assist with vision and hearing screenings.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
- Dispense medication to students according to physician's orders and school policy.
- Educate students and staff on basic health and hygiene practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized health office.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health issues.
- Refer students to appropriate health professionals when necessary.
- Assist with health-related administrative tasks.
