About The Position

Under general supervision, the Custodian performs a wide variety of custodial and maintenance duties to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment. The role includes work in and around campus facilities, troubleshooting and minor repairs, responding to emergency service calls, and setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for campus and community events. The Custodian works closely with staff and faculty to meet custodial and maintenance needs. The position is scheduled for 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday with variable hours, and occasional Saturday cleaning for a couple of hours. Basic benefits are provided. The job involves physical work and requires the ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels and speak audibly so others can understand. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
Ability to access and use basic technology programs or other designated software to perform and complete assigned tasks.
Effective problem-solving abilities.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with a team with diverse ethnicities and educational backgrounds.
Well-organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to receive and follow verbal or written directions.
Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels and speak in audible tones so others can understand clearly.

Responsibilities

Sweep and mop the cafeteria floor between each lunch period.
Clean and disinfect cafeteria tables between each lunch period.
Place and pick up school traffic signs and cones.
Unlock and lock Chapel doors, Life Center Gym doors, and Pre-K hallway doors for before-school and after-school care.
Report and respond to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
Respond to service requests, coordinate resources, and set up and take down furniture and equipment for campus and community events.
Perform various maintenance and custodial duties.
Maintain shrubs and plants inside and outside the building.
Occasionally inspect buses for interior cleaning needs.
Use SchoolDude to perform and complete assigned tasks.
Work with pesticide, HVAC service, and elevator contractors by accessing buildings and unlocking doors or specific areas when services are being performed.
Occasionally perform Saturday cleaning for a couple of hours.
Wipe smudge marks from doors and windows in high-traffic areas.
Clean window blinds.
Clean the concession room weekly.
Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies.
