About The Position

The part-time Custodian keeps the building clean and orderly, performing heavy cleaning duties and supporting routine facility maintenance. The role follows appropriate safety practices and procedures, monitors building security and safety, and alerts management to repair needs or safety concerns. The Custodian also supports program, event, and facility-rental setup and teardown, assists other departments, and works with Visitor Services and Education to provide guests with a high-quality experience.

Responsibilities

Clean buildings and floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
Gather and empty trash.
Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning materials and tools.
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use for hazards.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
Notify managers of the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Notify management about safety concerns.
Support setup and teardown for programs, events, and facility rentals as required.
Collaborate with Visitor Services and Education to deliver a high-quality guest experience.
Assist other departments as required.
Answer guests' questions, provide directions, and deliver exceptional guest service.
Support a productive and positive environment focused on customer service.
