About The Position

Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children is seeking a Custodian to provide cleaning and janitorial services that support a hygienic and safe educational and dormitory environment. The School, located in Oakland, Pittsburgh, serves approximately 200 students from 80–85 school districts across western Pennsylvania and provides education, early intervention, and outreach services for students with visual impairments. This is a year-round, full-time, onsite position working Sunday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The schedule is 40 hours per week, with the opportunity for overtime. Pay is $18 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must hold and maintain proper clearances for Acts 34, 114, and 151.

Nice To Haves

Valid driver's license preferred.
Previous experience as a housekeeper preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean restrooms, classrooms, therapy areas, common areas, dormitories, dining areas, hallways, stairwells, and offices as assigned.
Perform cleaning tasks including mopping and waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, spot-cleaning carpet stains, dusting, and cleaning windows.
Maintain lighting in assigned areas and report needed repairs.
Move furniture as needed.
Drive school vehicles as assigned.
Maintain grounds, including snow removal.
Assist with room setups, transportation, and maintenance as needed.
Follow the assigned schedule without frequent reminders and demonstrate reliable, dependable, and prompt attendance and readiness for work at shift start.
Use safe lifting techniques.
Take initiative to assist others when assigned duties are complete.
Be receptive to direction and constructive criticism.
