Custodian FT East Campus
About The Position
Blue Skies of Texas is hiring a full-time Custodian for its East campus in San Antonio, Texas, as part of the Environment Services team. The role performs routine cleaning and floor and carpet care in common areas and other assigned locations, handles recycling and trash disposal, and helps maintain clean and safe facilities. The Custodian also moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms for meetings, resident activities, and special events. For employees assigned to Blue Skies East, duties additionally include loading, unloading, and delivering laundry to the East Health Care Center (The Mission), as required. The work involves universal precautions. The position attends monthly safety and training meetings and reports health or safety concerns, as well as missing or defective equipment, items, or fixtures, to the Supervisor. Other duties may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- At least one year of work experience in a similar position in a retirement community, health care center, residential apartment complex, or hotel housekeeping role.
- If assigned to Blue Skies East, a current, valid Texas driver’s license, a good driving record, and continued insurability by Blue Skies of Texas carriers are required.
Nice To Haves
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Ongoing safety training and training or seminars related to Environmental Services department tasks are highly recommended.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning in public areas and other assigned locations, including wet and damp mopping, buffing, window washing, vacuuming, and general cleaning.
- Maintain carpets and floors and handle recycling and trash disposal.
- Move furniture into and out of resident apartments, homes, health care rooms, and offices.
- Set up meeting rooms with tables, chairs, and other furniture for scheduled meetings, resident activities, and special events.
- Attend monthly safety and training meetings.
- Promptly report concerns regarding resident or employee health or safety to the Supervisor.
- Report missing or defective equipment, items, and fixtures—including light bulbs, hardware, and appliances—to the Supervisor.
- If assigned to Blue Skies East, load, unload, and deliver laundry to The Mission as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
