Custodian RiverPlex (Part Time)
About The Position
The Custodian – RiverPlex Recreation Center is responsible for maintaining clean, neat, safe, and attractive facility spaces and surrounding grounds. The position works under the direct supervision of the Custodial & Maintenance Foreman. Duties include monitoring locker-room cleanliness, keeping program areas and equipment in good repair, performing assigned maintenance and cleanup, and assisting with maintenance supplies. The custodian follows applicable safety procedures and supports the Park District’s safety program. The work involves physical exertion, including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and twisting, as well as handling supplies, equipment, and materials. It includes exposure to power equipment, outdoor turf and field implements, chemicals, indoor cleaning agents and solutions, and hand tools. Indoor work areas are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated; outdoor work is subject to seasonal weather and environmental conditions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- General knowledge of cleaning and facility maintenance.
- Basic repair and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate and maintain mechanized cleaning equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain appropriate cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Ability to act professionally, respectfully, accountably, and innovatively, follow safety procedures, and treat internal and external customers equitably.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on each leg of a repetitive unloading and reloading process.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the cleanliness of the locker room.
- Ensure program areas, equipment, and locker rooms are neat and in good repair.
- Perform assigned facility maintenance and cleanup.
- Assist with the preparation and monitoring of maintenance supplies.
- Help keep the RiverPlex and surrounding grounds clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive.
- Follow safety procedures related to assigned duties and support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
