About The Position

The Custodian performs cleaning, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of County buildings and grounds to maintain a neat, orderly, and safe environment and a positive public impression for internal and external customers. The role works second shift, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with Saturdays and Sundays off, and responds to off-hours calls. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience; custodial or janitorial experience is preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail, customer service, diligence, initiative, and pride in work done well.
• Ability to sustain the physical demands of the active position, including occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, standing and walking most of the shift, and regularly using all parts of the body for varied responsibilities.
• Availability to work extended shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean meeting rooms, offices, public areas, and bathrooms.
• Remove recyclables and trash.
• Dust, mop, sanitize, scrub, and sweep surfaces.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets; strip, wax, and buff floors.
• Wash ceilings, walls, and windows.
• Replace light bulbs and batteries.
• Maintain supplies in paper and soap dispensers.
• Set up and tear down meeting facilities.
• Load and unload deliveries, distribute deliveries, and run errands.
• Sort mail.
• Perform general maintenance and repairs.
• Shovel snow and remove or treat ice.
• Respond to off-hours calls.
