Custodian - Cleveland Temple
About The Position
Ensure that the facility is clean to the highest standard and is able to function without interruption on a daily basis. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of The Salvation Army's Cleveland Temple facility, ensuring it meets the highest standards. The custodian will represent The Salvation Army and assist in carrying out its spiritual and total mission. Responsibilities include setting up for events, maintaining cleaning and sanitation techniques, and performing daily, weekly, and as-needed cleaning tasks for the building and property. The role also involves assisting with special efforts like Christmas kettles and driving Salvation Army vehicles.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and be able to drive for The Salvation Army
- Must be passionate about the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the Cleveland Temple Corps.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and appropriate intervention skills are required.
- Strong knowledge of available resources required.
Nice To Haves
- Prior maintenance/janitorial experience; preferred.
Responsibilities
- Represent The Salvation Army in a manner that brings glory to God.
- Assist in every way requested to carry out the spiritual and total mission of The Cleveland Temple Corps of The Salvation Army in terms of community needs and our ministry of the people of our community.
- Set up and tear down for special events/ programs at the direction of the Operations Director and Corps Officers.
- Maintain cleaning and sanitation techniques, while utilizing and operating commercial equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of building and property according to the following maintenance schedule: Clean kitchen and dining room daily, Empty all trash daily, Clean floors of all rooms and hallways daily, Clean bathrooms daily.
- Prepare Chapel for Sunday Worship including vacuuming, cleaning the glass on the Holiness Table and setting up the platform for the band.
- Cut grass on a weekly basis / Snow Removal, as needed.
- Clean out vehicles on a weekly basis.
- Assist in driving The Salvation Army's vehicles for supplies, equipment or service as assigned.
- Assist, as needed and requested, in the Christmas effort including kettles.
- Takes pride in work and in the cleanliness of the building. Attend community events, at the direction of the Corps Officers.
- Assist with any other projects as assigned by the Corps Officers or Operations Director
