About The Position

The Custodian II performs general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance and Operations. The role maintains equipment in functional condition and helps provide a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and community members. Assignments may include any or all District facilities, depending on District needs.

This is a full-time position scheduled for five days per week, Sunday through Thursday, from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with eight hours per day and a 260-day contract. Hours may shift according to District needs, including afternoon, weekend, evening, and other shift requirements. Pay is $19.50–$27.36, plus a shift differential, commensurate with experience and under the OAPSE negotiated agreement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.
• Motor Vehicle Operator's license and ability to provide own transportation.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning.
• Ability to use common hand and power tools.
• Sufficient physical ability to perform necessary lifting, carrying, standing, climbing, and walking; must be able to lift and carry 70 pounds.
• Satisfy statutory pre-employment requirements, including a criminal record background check and recommendation of prior employer(s).

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and on grounds.
• Maintain equipment in functional condition and effectively use equipment needed for custodial duties.
• Unload, transport, and maintain equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Assist with setup and cleanup for District and community activities and events.
• Perform seasonal duties, including lawn and landscape care and snow removal.
• Promote and follow good safety practices and applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations for tools and power equipment.
• Perform other duties delineated in the Custodial II job description.
