About The Position
The Custodian I provides custodial care for Georgia State University facilities. The role cleans assigned building areas and performs room setups according to established routines and procedures. Duties may overlap as needed and include maintaining floors, laboratories, offices, classrooms, restrooms, and other assigned work areas. The position involves daily use of cleaning chemicals and may require working around potentially dangerous materials in certain laboratories.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must submit three professional references.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to lift approximately 30–50 pounds and perform heavy lifting when required.
- Some knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Six months of experience working in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting.
Responsibilities
- Clean floors by sweeping, dusting, mopping, wet mopping, scrubbing, stripping, restoring, buffing, waxing, and vacuuming.
- Perform other duties needed to maintain campus floor cleanliness.
- Remove trash and clean counters, equipment, and furnishings.
- Maintain the cleanliness of laboratories, office areas, classrooms, and other assigned work areas.
- Clean and restock restrooms.
- Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other public areas.
- Handle emergency cleanups and perform other related work as needed.
