About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care’s Environmental Services department is seeking a Custodian to help provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff. The department maintains and cleans more than 2.8 million square feet of the hospital and operates 24/7. The position is performed fully on campus in Iowa City, Iowa, and may involve bloodborne pathogen exposure risk.

This is a regular salaried position scheduled Monday through Friday, 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with rotating weekends and holidays, including every other weekend. The stated pay is $17.66 per hour.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.

Nice To Haves

• Previous cleaning experience.
• Experience working in a healthcare setting and working with the public.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning.
• Remove trash.
• Stock supplies for carts and custodial areas.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms and refill restroom supplies.
• Dust, vacuum, sweep, and damp mop hard-surface floors.
• Clean carpets.
• Make units and beds.
• Wash walls and ceilings.
• Move furniture and set up rooms.
• Use various types of custodial equipment to perform duties.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
