About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care’s Environmental Services department is seeking a Custodian to help provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff. The position performs general cleaning and custodial duties in the Main Hospital, including removing trash, stocking supplies, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, damp mopping, carpet cleaning, making units and beds, washing walls and ceilings, moving furniture, and setting up rooms. The custodian uses various types of custodial equipment and performs other duties as assigned. The position may involve bloodborne pathogen exposure risk and is performed fully on campus.

Environmental Services is responsible for upkeep and cleaning of more than 2.8 million square feet of the hospital and supports 24/7 operations. The department aims to provide high-quality environmental care services to maintain a functional and safe environment for patients, staff, visitors, and others served by or providing services for University of Iowa Health Care.

This is a regular salaried position in Iowa City, Iowa. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position is listed at $17.66 per hour.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
