About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned. This role involves performing janitorial duties, operating motorized cleaning equipment, and maintaining the daily upkeep of assigned areas. The position also includes responsibilities related to hazardous waste management, such as collecting, classifying, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging special and hazardous waste. The Custodian must report incidents and hazardous conditions to their supervisor and comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures. They are expected to stop at-risk behavior of themselves and others, perform work assignments collaboratively with team members, and handle repetitive tasks. Maintaining a clean work area, following all protocols, and taking direction from supervision are key aspects of the role. Additionally, the Custodian will support the shift lead in completing punch-list items, use proper personal protective equipment, and present a professional appearance and conduct, understanding customer service and satisfaction, as well as reporting systems and the environment.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
No specific education requirement, 3-6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
Completed all safety and task training certification.
May be required to be forklift certified.
Bilingual a plus
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with team
Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties

Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment
Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
Stop at risk behavior of others and self
Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
