About The Position
The Louisiana Veterans Homes primarily serve Louisiana veterans by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The homes aim to provide quality nursing care that helps eligible veterans reach the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. The Custodian 2 cleans assigned areas daily, including mopping, disinfecting, dusting, and sweeping. The role also involves stripping, buffing, waxing, and disinfecting floors regularly using required industrial machinery. The position is in the Housekeeping Department of the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
Requirements
- At least six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
Responsibilities
- Clean assigned areas daily by mopping, disinfecting, dusting, and sweeping.
- Strip, buff, wax, and disinfect floors in assigned areas regularly using required industrial machinery.
- Clean contaminated trash bins and contaminated trash.
- Decontaminate patient rooms, restrooms, and isolation rooms containing biohazardous waste, including blood, urine, feces, and used needles.
- Dispose of infectious waste when necessary and document that proper procedures were followed.
- Report deficiencies such as peeling paint, water leaks in faucets or toilets, bugs in light covers, and broken equipment.
