About The Position
LSMSA is a selective-admission public residential high school in Natchitoches, Louisiana, adjacent to Northwestern State University. The Custodian 2 serves as a lead worker over a custodial crew, performing routine manual work to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings and institutions, as well as higher-level specialized custodial tasks. The role works closely with custodial staff and supervisors. LSMSA is a 24/7 residential school. The typical schedule is 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Weekends, holidays, or extended hours beyond the typical workweek may be required. The appointment may be probational, promotional, or job appointment.
Requirements
- At least six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
Responsibilities
- Clean bathrooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
- Move, rearrange, and dust furniture and fixtures.
- Mix or blend cleaning solutions to appropriate concentrations for various tasks.
- Strip, clean, and polish floors using industrial-grade machines.
- Follow procedures for disposing of infectious waste.
- Maintain custodial equipment and report needs for minor building or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
- Operate a wet/dry vacuum to clean and shampoo carpeted areas.
- Strip, decontaminate, and make beds for residents, students, guests, and others.
- Serve as an assistant supervisor or other agency supervisor if required.
- Wash laboratory glassware by hand or automated washer and sterilize glass and instruments using an autoclave or dryers.
