About The Position

This is an entry-level custodial position requiring some knowledge of cleaning equipment and procedures. Under immediate supervision, the Custodial Worker I cleans County facilities. The role includes collecting and transporting trash, cleaning and dusting furniture and other surfaces, maintaining restrooms and replenishing supplies, and vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors. The worker also performs special cleaning projects and moves boxes, furniture, and equipment. Related duties may be required.

Requirements

• Education equivalent to the eighth school grade.
• Three months of general custodial work experience.
• May be required to have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Collect trash and transport it to a compactor or dumpster.
• Clean and dust furniture and surfaces, including windowsills, doors, blinds, door jambs, TVs, mirrors, filing cabinets, and desks.
• Clean and maintain restrooms, including stocking paper towels, toilet paper, and soap dispensers.
• Vacuum carpets and sweep and mop floors.
• Perform special cleaning projects, such as washing windows, thorough room cleaning, washing blinds, and defrosting refrigerators.
• Move boxes, furniture, and equipment.
• Perform related duties as required.
