About The Position

This is a full-time position at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice South Dakota Veterans Home and requires a dedication and commitment to "Caring for America's Heroes". The Custodial Supervisor is a key role within the Physical Plant Department and is responsible for directing the work of a team of facility workers. Incumbents both supervise and assist in the cleaning and general maintenance of the facility to maintain sanitary conditions and enhance the appearance of the buildings.

Requirements

Knowledge of techniques of custodial work
Knowledge of proper use of cleaning equipment and supplies
Ability to establish and maintain effective supervisory relationships
Ability to plan and schedule work
Ability to operate and repair cleaning equipment
Ability to keep records
Ability to train and teach subordinates proper techniques of custodial work
Ability to direct the activities of subordinates
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Conducting performance appraisals and documents

Reporting maintenance problems and/or hazardous conditions
Determining need and developing in-service training programs for staff to ensure continuous training in custodial, routine maintenance, repair, and supervision techniques.
