About The Position

This position supports a team that develops HISD NES (New Education System) curriculum in AP, IB and world languages programming with a specific emphasis on writing teacher facing curriculum, including slide decks with teacher guide for implementation, Demonstration of Learning (DOL), student activities and differentiated assignments aligned to the daily objective. They are responsible for ensuring that their team produces quality work that is aligned to college readiness standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 1 to 3 years of work experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and creation of curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD's educational objectives. This includes slides, student activities, assessments, and differentiated assignments.
• Evaluate curriculum through a sensitivity lens to ensure grade-level appropriateness and cultural relevance. Flag and correct promptly incorrect slides, images and/or materials.
• Lead and facilitate in collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies to ensure alignment, correctness, and clarity of each lesson document.
• Attend and provide professional development sessions focused on internalizing state standards, future of industry, and alignment to NES model for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s).
• Oversees and delivers weekly tasks to Curriculum Writers 1 to equitable distribute work and ensure high-quality completed documents are prepared on time. Works to create systems to monitor deliverables timeliness and accuracy.
• Partner with advanced academics leadership to ensure industry-aligned skills are embedded into all curriculum.
• Other duties as assigned.
