About The Position

The Curriculum Designer 1, Spanish 1 and 2 develops HISD NES (New Education System) curriculum in Spanish 1 and 2, with a specific emphasis on writing teacher-facing curriculum, including slide decks with teacher guides for implementation, Demonstration of Learning (DOL), student activities, and differentiated assignments aligned to the daily objective. They are responsible for ensuring alignment to the future of work in their assigned industry.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an AP teacher, required
• Bachelor's Degree
• 1 to 3 years of work experience
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Proficiency with office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)

Responsibilities

• Design and create curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD's educational objectives. This includes slides, student activities, assessments, and differentiated assignments.
• Evaluate curriculum through a sensitivity lens to ensure grade-level appropriateness and cultural relevance.
• Participate in collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies to ensure alignment, correctness, and clarity of each lesson document.
• Attend professional development sessions focused on internalizing state standards and alignment to NES model for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s).
• Partner with AP Programming leads to ensure alignment to demands of College Board and feedback from colleges.
• Other duties as assigned.
