The School of Social Work (SSW) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Curriculum Coordinator for the Public Service Leadership Program (PSLP). This role is funded by a grant aimed at developing and offering a statewide, three-tiered public service certificate program. The program targets both pre-service students (high school, community college/undergraduate, and master's levels) and in-service practitioners in public sector social work. The goal is to encourage public sector career interests and provide credentials for career advancement and skill acquisition for current professionals. The certificates will feature a core set of common elements, including curriculum enhancement, tuition-free access, a focus on direct service and North Carolina's critical service delivery areas, a virtual delivery model, and co-instruction by university faculty, agency professionals, and individuals with lived experiences. The PSLP Curriculum Coordinator will collaborate with the PSLP Workforce Development Curriculum Engineer to implement and support academic aspects of the program for both pre-service and in-service practitioners and students at undergraduate and graduate levels. This position will contribute to the development of innovative curricula for public sector social work practice and engagement with underserved populations. The program includes three certificates for pre-service students (pre-BSW, BSW, MSW) and two for in-service practitioners (post-BSW, post-MSW). Each certificate will involve immersive in-person experiences, virtual professional learning, and asynchronous online components. The Coordinator will report to the Workforce Development Curriculum Engineer and work with other PSLP leads and managers on curriculum development, launch, implementation, and assessment of student learning outcomes. This role also involves serving as a regional team lead for the PSLP curriculum development team, supporting the PSLP Curriculum, Certificate and Training Committee, workgroups, and external stakeholders. The position is based at Western Carolina University and supports social work programs at Appalachian State University, Mars Hill University, Warren Wilson College, and Western Carolina University. The candidate must reside within a commutable distance of one of these universities and is expected to work on-campus at least two days a week. The role requires up to 25% travel to regional NC human services organizations and partner universities, as well as potential travel for conferences and meetings.
