About The Position

Gunderson Dettmer has an opening for a Culture & Inclusion Coordinator in our New York Office. The Culture & Inclusion Coordinator supports the firm's Culture & Inclusion function by helping execute programs, events, initiatives, and administrative processes that advance the firm's commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and welcoming workplace. Reporting to the Director of Culture & Inclusion, the Coordinator serves as a key operational team member responsible for supporting affinity groups, coordinating events, maintaining program logistics, tracking participation and engagement, managing communications, and assisting with department projects and initiatives. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys project coordination, event execution, relationship building, and creating meaningful experiences for attorneys and professional staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in diversity, equity and inclusion, human resources, recruiting, professional development, employee engagement, higher education, nonprofit administration, or a related field.
  • Exceptional organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with attorneys, firm leadership, professional staff, clients, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams as well as Zoom, Tableau, and Canva.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive workplace cultures.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a professional services, legal, consulting, financial services, or corporate environment preferred.
  • Event coordination and project management experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for culture and inclusion programs, affinity group events, professional development workshops, heritage month celebrations, networking events, and community-building initiatives.
  • Assist with venue coordination, catering orders, audiovisual requests, room reservations, event registrations, and attendee communications.
  • Prepare event materials, name badges, handouts, signage, and participant packets.
  • Manage event calendars and maintain timelines, trackers, and project plans to ensure successful program execution. Attend events as needed to provide on-site support, registration management, and troubleshooting.
  • Partner with internal departments including Communications, Community Engagement, Legal Recruiting, Attorney Development, Hospitality, Information Technology, and Facilities to support program delivery.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for affinity group administrative needs.
  • Coordinate affinity group meetings, prepare agendas, distribute materials, meeting minutes, and document action items.
  • Maintain affinity group membership lists, distribution lists, and MS Teams channels.
  • Assist affinity group leaders with planning annual programming and budget requests.
  • Track attendance and engagement metrics for affinity group activities.
  • Maintain team calendars, project timelines, and planning documents.
  • Support scheduling of meetings, training sessions, affinity group meetings, and external partner engagements.
  • Assist with invoice processing, expense tracking, budget reconciliation, and vendor management.
  • Maintain team files, templates, and resource materials.
  • Monitor team email inbox and respond to routine inquiries.
  • Draft and distribute event invitations, reminders, announcements, and internal communications.
  • Assist with updating culture and inclusion content on the D&I High Q site.
  • Support development of newsletters, affinity group communications, and promotional materials (i.e. creating invitations in Canva, etc.).
  • Help identify opportunities to increase participation and engagement across firm programs.
  • Maintain accurate participation records and program tracking systems.
  • Assist with collecting and organizing data related to culture and inclusion initiatives.
  • Support survey administration and compilation of participant feedback.
  • Prepare basic reports, summaries, and dashboards for departmental review.
  • Ensure data integrity across departmental tracking systems and records.
  • Support implementation of firmwide culture and inclusion initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Assist with recruiting, retention, mentoring, sponsorship, and community engagement programs as assigned.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects that support the firm's culture and inclusion goals.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and initiatives under the guidance of the Director of Culture & Inclusion.
