About The Position

As a Culinary Assistant on the Salad Bar, you will perform tasks related to food preparation, cooking, and customer service. The seasonal hourly position offers up to 40 hours per week at $18.25 per hour and runs through the end of December. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Training lasts 1–2 weeks.

The role includes setting up and maintaining the buffet, ensuring food is properly labeled, replenishing and rotating food and display products, cleaning the buffet, stocking hot- and cold-bar supplies, checking and recording food temperatures, and packaging finished products. You must follow health, sanitation, and safety regulations and may assist with other duties as assigned.

The position requires frequent walking, standing, and reaching, as well as occasional pulling, pushing, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. It involves frequent exposure to grease, oil, and extreme non-weather-related heat, and occasional exposure to smoke, noise, and weather. Team members are expected to provide welcoming customer service, collaborate with colleagues, help maintain store efficiency, and represent the company’s S.T.E.W. values.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Safely use or operate knives, knife sharpeners, scalers, scales, and wrapping machines.

Responsibilities

• Set up the buffet according to established standards.
• Ensure buffet food items have proper signage.
• Refill and rotate buffet food as needed.
• Wipe down and clean the buffet as needed.
• Stock supplies for the hot and cold bar.
• Check food temperatures every two hours and document them in the temperature log.
• Maintain, fill, and rotate products on display while monitoring dates.
• Package finished products.
• Follow health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
• Greet customers with a friendly smile and positive attitude.
• Collaborate with team members to support smooth store operations.
• Help improve and maintain store efficiency.
• Represent the store’s S.T.E.W. values in interactions with customers and team members.
