About The Position

The Culinary Assistant provides dining room and to-go meal service to residents at Vernon Terrace of Edina, a senior living community offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The role serves meals, supports residents’ dietary needs and preferences, maintains a clean and inviting dining area, and helps ensure dishes are washed, sanitized, and put away before the end of each shift. The assistant also promotes positive resident relations by welcoming residents, accommodating requests, and responding appropriately to complaints.

This is a part-time position scheduled for 15 hours every two weeks, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday and every other Friday.

Requirements

• Less than one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals and ensure the dining area is clean and inviting.
• Follow meal-serving schedules and procedures.
• Offer residents meal choices and meet their specific dietary needs.
• Use proper safety and sanitation techniques.
• Follow dining room cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Follow procedures for dining room setup and maintain proper workflow.
• Learn and become proficient with the EMenu System and restaurant-style service.
• Wash, sanitize, and put away all dishes, including flatware and drinkware, before the end of the shift.
• Welcome residents and initiate conversation.
• Accommodate resident requests, such as food substitutions or seating changes.
• Listen to complaints and respond appropriately; refer issues to the Executive Director and Culinary Director as appropriate.
