About The Position

This is a 1-year contract position for a CT Technologist at the VA New Jersey Health Care System (VANJHCS) in Toms River, NJ. The role involves performing CT diagnostic imaging, patient preparation, administering contrast agents, and ensuring image quality. The technologist will also be responsible for documentation, participating in meetings, and preparing digital images for radiologists.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience on advanced modality (CT)
• ARRT (R)
• ARRT (CT)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Cross-sectional anatomy for spiral/multi-slice CT, including 3-D reconstruction
• Biopsies, drainages, peripheral vascular exams
• Cardiac CT with retro/prospective gating
• CT fluoro-guided interventional procedures: lung biopsy, RFA, cryo-ablation, microwave ablation
• Experience on 64-slice and 320-slice scanners
• General x-ray proficiency (full range of contrasted/non-contrasted CT exams)
• Tracking of reportable CT radiation doses
• IV contrast agents and hydration protocols

Responsibilities

• Perform CT diagnostic imaging per protocol; patient prep/positioning/education
• Prepare and administer contrast agents; monitor patients for reactions
• QC of images; adjust equipment/positioning to eliminate artifacts and minimize radiation exposure
• Document pending/delayed cases in CPRS with reason and completion plan
• Prepare digital images for radiologist via PACS
• Participate in QI meetings and staff meetings
