CSS Technician, Full-Time 11a-7:30p, VHAS
About The Position
The CSS Technician supports Infection Control by collecting, cleaning, disinfecting, and distributing portable patient care equipment that has been prepared, documented, and inspected for bedside use. The role also cleans, decontaminates, sterilizes, and distributes medical and surgical instrumentation for patient care in the Operating Rooms, Labor & Delivery, and other departments performing invasive procedures, such as Endoscopy. The position is full-time, on-site at 200 Bowman Drive, with a listed schedule of 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and 40 total weekly hours. The posting also identifies the work shift as 1st Shift.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED).
- Successful completion of a sterile processing course at an accredited or state-licensed institution offering post-secondary, professional, vocational, or adult education, or successful completion of a program or course designed to prepare students for the CRCST certification examination.
- CRCST or CBSPD certification required within 6 months of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous sterile processing experience preferred.
- CER preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments, powered surgical equipment, and endoscopes into instrument trays or packages of individual items for sterilization.
- Collect and clean and disinfect patient care equipment and surgical instruments from clinical units, the Operating Room, Labor & Delivery, and other areas performing invasive procedures.
- Assist in orienting and training new hires.
- Operate, monitor, and document biological and mechanical results of decontamination and sterilization equipment.
- Deliver patient care equipment, take inventory of specialty carts, and replenish supplies for the department and centralized O.R. Case Cart System.
- Prepare and distribute clean and sterile equipment and supplies.
- Transport soiled and sterile surgical instrumentation between facilities.
