About The Position

The OR Attendant prepares patients and the environment before surgery for the medical and nursing team. The role also transports patients and transfers them as needed, and serves as a porter between departments to deliver medical supplies, information, specimens, and products in a timely manner. The attendant provides safe, compassionate, personalized, and efficient care while following policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least one year of experience in an operating room environment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and read and write English.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with physical preparation of patients and the environment prior to surgery according to the age and needs of the patient population served; transport and transfer patients as necessary.
• Serve as a porter between departments, ensuring medical supplies, information, specimens, and products are delivered in a timely fashion.
• Provide safe patient care while adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
• Support professional growth and development by meeting mandatory and continuing education and skills competency requirements; support department goals and serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
• Demonstrate commitment to caring for the community through compassionate and personalized experiences, modeling service standards that provide safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
