About The Position

Canada Summer Job - Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism Program and Event Assistant - Strategy. This position requires a strong interest in learning about and promoting Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti Racism as well as an interest in organizational culture and change management. The successful candidate will need to understand and demonstrate that people leadership occurs at any location in an organizational structure and that everyone can play a valuable role in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti Racism. Part of this role will include promoting our organization at a wide range of public events which occur on weekends across the Thames Valley region. Examples include Pow Wows, Pride Festivals, Ethnic and Cultural events. Consider making a difference in your community by joining our team!

Requirements

  • Will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and am legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Post-secondary education completed or in progress within social services, mental health and/or addictions or related field
  • Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Ability to attend work regularly

  • Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with literature review and program development

  • Ability to understand and tolerate those whose knowledge and understanding of the issues related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti Racism are undeveloped
  • Ability to engage with general public
  • Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and take on initiative

Responsibilities

  • Support the evolution of the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti Racism (EDI & AR) workplan to bring together staff, leaders, community members, and external stakeholders
  • Assist with organization, hosting or staffing of events and meetings which promote EDI & AR, such as community festivals and learning events (public and organizational)
  • Conduct research on initiatives undertaken by comparable institutions to promote EDI & AR
  • Gather information for employee “Champion Teams”.
  • Gathering information from community organizations, health agencies, government agencies to develop content for an annual communication plan
  • Participating in literature reviews and/or gathering data to inform and translate knowledge to actions addressing EDI & AR
  • Provide support to grant applications and communications activities related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti Racism
  • Creative thinking and teamwork

Benefits

  • $17.60 per hour
  • Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
