About The Position

Under limited supervision, this role provides guidance, protection, and safety to all pedestrians within the designated school zone and crossing. The Crossing Guard will assist pedestrians in safely crossing main thoroughfares, direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and establish a consistent adult presence at school crossings. This position also involves notifying campus administrators of unsafe student practices and informing the Katy ISD Police Department of unsafe vehicle operations.

Requirements

• Must be dependable and responsible
• Possess the sensitivity and maturity to work effectively with children
• Must be able to successfully complete a crossing guard training course
• Must be able to be at assigned location from 7:15 a.m. - 7:50 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. daily.
• On early dismissal days: and be available at assigned location from 7:15 a.m. - 7:50 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. on early dismissal days.

Responsibilities

• Assist all pedestrians in safely crossing main thoroughfares within a designated school zone.
• Direct the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic as appropriate within the designated school zone.
• Establish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with campus administrators and staff.
• Provide a general and consistent adult presence at school crossings.
• Notify campus administrators of unsafe practices by students.
• Inform the Katy ISD Police Department of unsafe operations of vehicles in the crossing areas.
