About The Position

The Fayetteville Ambulatory Surgery Center provides excellent clinical care with a focus on safety, comfort, and convenience. It serves as a safe, lower-cost alternative to inpatient hospital care, with most patients discharged home the same day after surgery. The center is easily accessible with free parking. This is a 14-week contract position for a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) on a PRN basis, with no call required. The case mix includes General, Neuro, Gynecology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, ENT, PEDS-ENT, Plastics, Podiatry, and Urology. The facility has 5 OR rooms, with a CRNA to MD ratio of 5:1. MDs are not doing their own cases. The charting system is paper records.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited program in nurse anesthesia education.
  • Certified or recertified by the National Board of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Possess a current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of North Carolina.
  • At least one full year (12 months) of experience as a CRNA.
  • Possess BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Pre-anesthetic evaluation, including preparing an appropriate health history, conducting an appropriate physical exam, requesting diagnostic studies, and selecting, obtaining, and administering pre-anesthetic medications.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia, anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence.
  • Perform preoperative and intraoperative care.
  • Obtain, prepare, and use all equipment, monitors, supplies, and drugs used for the administration of anesthesia, performing and ordering safety checks as needed.
  • Select, obtain, or administer the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, and blood products necessary to manage the anesthetics.
  • Perform all aspects of airway management, insert peripheral venous catheters, and manage Bier Blocks.
  • Provide appropriate non-invasive monitoring modalities utilizing current standards and techniques.
  • Evaluate patient response during emergence from anesthesia and institute pharmacological or supportive treatment to ensure patient stability during transfer.
  • Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation of the patient's response to anesthesia and surgical experience.
  • Initiate and administer respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation in the post-anesthesia period.
  • Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system during the post-anesthetic period.
