About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. This role involves working on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. You will collaborate with people across AWS to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers. As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the primary engineering resource for your region, providing technical advice and engaging with diverse teams to troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures. You will directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, and event support. You will own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency, and sustainability. You will interface with internal data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability. You will develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers, work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions, and initiate and lead engineering audits with on-site visits to produce reports outlining risks and recommended mitigations. You will also act as a resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
  • Must have a valid US driver's license and reliable personal transportation by start date.

Responsibilities
