About The Position

The Critical Care Physician Assistant provides clinical care to adult hospitalized patients in an inpatient hospital in Potsdam, New York. The role covers general medical and ICU patients, with a patient volume of approximately 1:10–15, and rotates between ICU and floor admission duties on a 7-on/7-off schedule from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The coverage period is January 6, 2027, through July 7, 2027. Clinical coverage only; hospital privileges are required.

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive care, including diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care. ICU responsibilities include managing new admissions, existing patients, and patients held in the Emergency Room. Procedures are not required, and backup is available; experience performing lines such as central lines is helpful. The facility uses Epic and has support from one provider, one nurse practitioner, and one licensed practical nurse. The department has 109 beds.

Requirements

• Active New York State license.
• Board certification.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• At least 2 years of recent experience.
• Epic experience.
• Hospital privileges are required.
• Residents and fellows are not accepted.

• Ability to perform procedures such as lines, including central lines.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care.
• Manage ICU patients, including new admissions, existing patients, and patients held in the Emergency Room.
• Perform patient rounds, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans.
• Communicate and coordinate with primary care physicians and specialists to ensure continuity of care.
• Rotate between ICU and floor admission duties on a 7-on/7-off schedule, working 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
