About The Position

Under the supervision of the Crisis Program Manager, the Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) Crisis Clinical Coordinator plans, directs and coordinates activities of MRSS (Crisis Intervention/Prevention) to ensure that clinically appropriate goals and procedures are accomplished in accordance with risk factors, time limitations, funding requirements, and licensing regulations. This role involves managing a 24/7 crisis program for children, developing operational procedures, providing crisis case management, monitoring interventions, and making critical decisions regarding hospitalization or crisis bed placement. The coordinator also facilitates training, provides field assistance, and conducts group and individual supervision for crisis counselors, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements and supporting employee career development. Collaboration with community mental health providers, law enforcement, state hospitals, and behavioral health services is essential for facilitating appropriate services for children and families. The position requires developing procedures to manage various crisis situations, participating in a monthly on-call rotation for supervisory consultation, and upholding professional standards and the mission of Delaware Guidance Services. Effective communication with all customers, including children, parents, and state agencies, is crucial, as is maintaining compliance with departmental requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree which qualifies for licensure in the state of Delaware as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Psychologist.
  • Possess Delaware Clinical Licensure (social work, psychology, counseling).
  • Minimum of 3 years post licensure clinical experience preferably within an evidenced-based or evidenced-informed child and family interventions.
  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate supervisory experience preferably within an evidenced-based or evidenced-informed child and family interventions.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more continuing education credits in clinical supervision within the last year.
  • Multilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a clinically appropriate 24/7 crisis program for children.
  • Develops and maintains procedures/policies for daily operations, including mobilization of crisis workers for risk assessments and referrals.
  • Develops procedures for crisis workers to access daily supervision for clinical assessments and crisis situations.
  • Provides daily crisis case management and assigns cases as needed.
  • Monitors daily crisis interventions and risk factors for individual cases.
  • Makes the final decision to hospitalize or place a child in a crisis bed.
  • Facilitates ongoing crisis training for crisis counselors.
  • Provides on-site field assistance to crisis counselors as needed.
  • Implements and coordinates ongoing group and individual supervision for crisis counselors, focusing on licensing requirements and employee career development.
  • Works closely with community mental health providers, law enforcement, state hospitals, and Prevention and Behavioral Health Services to facilitate appropriate services.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing procedures to manage crisis situations (e.g., decompensation, drug/alcohol problems, suicidal/homicidal ideation, family conflict, abuse).
  • Participates in a one-week-per-month on-call rotation for supervisory consultation.
  • Upholds professional standards of treatment and the mission of Delaware Guidance Services.
  • Maintains a quality code of conduct, ethics, and professionalism as demonstrated in the MRSS Program Manual.
  • Imparts clinical knowledge and expertise in a goal-directed and team-oriented manner.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with all customers.
  • Maintains crisis services in compliance with requirements published in the Department of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services Manual.
  • Coordinates and maintains proper documentation of all incoming assessments.
  • Verifies that risk factors are addressed and notations are precise and accurate.
  • Establishes and maintains outcome measures.
  • Assigns and schedules crisis counselors to specific shifts and maintains stability.
  • Attends individual meetings with the MRSS Program Manager and management team meetings.
  • Provides weekly crisis program updates to the MRSS Program Manager.
  • Participates in the interview process of potential candidates.
  • Evaluates crisis counselors’ progress and updates the MRSS Program Manager with staff concerns.
  • Facilitates training for newly hired crisis counselors.
  • Coordinates cases and policies with the Department of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services.
  • Ensures staff knowledge of and compliance with appropriate licensing, contractual, and other standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision of assigned staff.
