About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is seeking a Crisis Clinician to join their Mobile Crisis Assessment and Triage (MCAT) team. This role provides telephonic and outreach crisis intervention and evaluation services to individuals aged 21 and older who are experiencing behavioral health issues, potentially with co-occurring disorders or homelessness. The primary goal is to divert individuals from emergency departments, the criminal justice system, and inpatient psychiatric treatment by maximizing community resources for stabilization. The Crisis Clinician will conduct rapid response assessments, provide crisis intervention, engagement, supportive counseling, information and referral, assist with Medicaid enrollment, link clients to necessary resources and community-based mental health and substance use services for ongoing treatment and follow-up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health-related field
  • Must submit for Agency Affiliation within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a motor vehicle screening and driving test.
  • Must have active car insurance.
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of work.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial and follow-up phone triage, assessment, and de-escalation services for individuals in emotional or behavioral health crisis, including those referred for Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) services.
  • Provide crisis and hospital diversion services to youth, adults, and families in a behavioral health crisis and facilitate use of/access to crisis hospital diversion resources.
  • Provide referral services to individuals requesting assistance or 3rd party referral sources to provide community stabilization and diversion services.
  • Complete risk assessments to determine if the person is at risk for suicide and/or homicide, and staff the results with a supervisor or clinician II.
  • Work in collaboration with the Mobile Dispatch Unit to ensure case response meets contract requirements.
  • Provide initial and follow-up phone and face-to-face assessments for individuals who are at risk.
  • Create or further develop recovery plans and on-going support to promote stabilization plans with the individual’s support network.
  • Refer individuals who are eligible to Trueblood forensic programs, as appropriate.
  • Develop stabilization and safety plans in collaboration with clients and their support network, reviewed with a Clinician II or supervisor.
  • Complete comprehensive documentation which supports the safety plan.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of community resources and ability to access resources to support and address client needs.
  • Follow up on referrals made regarding at-risk/high-risk individuals to ensure stabilization and/or services obtained.
  • Maintain working relationships with courts, attorneys, providers, police and sheriff's deputies, jail staff, clinical and administrative staff at inpatient psychiatric facilities, staff of other agencies, advocates, and consumer groups.
  • Participate in Peer Review, supervision, in-center educational and administrative meetings.
  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Assist non-Medicaid individuals to access Medicaid as appropriate.
  • Provide case management and wrap-around services as needed.
  • Assist clients in obtaining basic needs such as emergency housing/shelter services, financial assistance, medical services, medications, and other resources.
  • Provide coaching, advocacy, information and referral, linkage and coordination with resources, and ongoing support.
  • Travel to see clients in the community and travel between work sites via FBH owned vehicles and/or personal vehicle.
