About The Position

River Run is a shared services organization supporting banking affiliates Newburyport Bank, Pentucket Bank, and Rollstone Bank & Trust. The Credit Team Lead supervises and develops a team of Credit Analysts, overseeing workflow execution, onboarding, and training, and implements and communicates updates to underwriting processes and credit policies. The role may also underwrite transactions by analyzing financial information and ensuring decision-makers receive clear, comprehensive credit insights through close collaboration with Credit and Lending teams. This position follows a hybrid work model, with three days per week onsite at the Leominster, Massachusetts office and two days per week working remotely from home.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in commercial credit analysis or underwriting in a banking environment.
Strong knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Expertise in cash flow analysis, loan policy, covenants, and compliance, with the ability to train others.
Solid foundation in finance and accounting.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in spreadsheets, credit spreading tools, and loan systems.
Ability to underwrite and structure complex credit deals, including CRE, C&I, and multi-entity transactions.
Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and guidance to the Credit team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment and supporting the credit culture of MHC.
Manage departmental and analyst workflows, ensuring timing, content, and quality expectations are met.
Perform managerial responsibilities, including performance management, coaching, and mentoring, to promote team development and alignment with MHC credit practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Credit, Lending, and Portfolio Management at MHC banks to support credit decisions, loan origination, and portfolio monitoring.
Identify emerging or potential loan portfolio issues and recommend action plans or risk-rating adjustments, considering implications for the broader MHC portfolio.
Complete annual reviews and process new commercial borrower credit requests, ensuring thorough evaluations aligned with MHC’s credit strategy.
Provide backup support for specialized departmental functions, such as appraisal or environmental documentation, reporting, and other tasks within the employee’s expertise.
Demonstrate commitment to the Bank’s mission, vision, and core values through actions and decisions aligned with MHC’s credit culture.
Occasionally conduct construction site visits and inspections, attend customer meetings, and provide additional underwriting and portfolio-monitoring support to Commercial Lenders across MHC.
Underwrite transactions as needed, analyzing financial information and communicating credit insights to decision-makers.
