Credit & Collections Manager

YouLendAtlanta, GA
Onsite

About The Position

YouLend is hiring a Credit & Collections Manager for the US market. This is a build role focused on supercharging a small, capable team of five agents and enabling future scalability as the business grows rapidly. The manager will be responsible for building strong hiring, onboarding, and training processes, and then focusing on advanced analytics, segmentation, and contact strategy to improve collections performance. Key metrics include cure rates, repayment speeds, cost-to-collect, and losses. The role involves owning accounts once they hit collections and driving improvements in these metrics. The team is dynamic and agile, with a mix of experienced and new agents. The manager will report to the Global Head of Collections in London, offering a high level of autonomy. Direct contact with the US General Manager and close collaboration with Credit Risk, Finance, Capital Markets, and Technology are expected. The role will also influence investments in collections tooling and automation.

Requirements

  • Direct ownership of collections outcomes and KPIs, with the ability to explain decisions behind the numbers.
  • Experience leading a small team, including hiring and training staff independently.
  • Proven track record of developing people and holding them accountable to high standards.
  • Experience within a collections function that has undergone significant transformation, rather than operating in a mature environment.
  • Experience operating in the US market with exposure to regulatory differences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, rapid growth, imperfect infrastructure, and shifting priorities, ideally from a scale-up environment.
  • Proactive, acting with urgency, and demonstrating extreme ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to the credit and lending domain (delinquency, defaults, recoveries, write-offs, roll rates, cure rates, credit losses).
  • Exposure to analytics and using data for decision-making.
  • Experience designing and evolving collections strategies, not just executing them.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive key collections metrics in the US, including cure rates, repayment speeds, cost-to-collect, and losses.
  • Design and continuously evolve segmentation, treatment paths, and contact strategies for the US market.
  • Lead, develop, and upgrade the collections team, fostering a performance culture that attracts and retains top talent.
  • Define the operating model for the collections function, including structure, management layers, workflows, governance, and performance cadence to support business growth.
  • Build and implement robust hiring, onboarding, and training processes for the collections team.
  • Utilize advanced analytics and data to inform decision-making and optimize collections strategies.
  • Collaborate with Credit Risk, Finance, Capital Markets, and Technology departments.
  • Provide input on investments in collections tooling and automation.
