About The Position

This position is responsible for leading, coordinating, and maintaining all aspects of credentialing activities in accordance with required time frames. This includes initial applications, reappointments, allied health professionals, locum tenens, and temporary privileges. The role may also involve maintaining the privilege delineation system and the medical staff database, as well as assisting with the OPPE report process. As a lead, the individual will oversee the day-to-day operations of the credentialing department, manage work assignments, conduct routine audits for compliance, handle special credentialing projects, train employees, and assist with standard work processes. This role serves as the primary point of contact for credentialing questions and escalates issues to the manager as needed.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • 2 years recent relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission & CMS standards, Title 22 regulations, and medical staff law as they pertain to Medical Staff credentialing/privileging.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of medical staff structure and communication lines.
  • Medical terminology required.
  • Computerized database management required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic office equipment skills (fax, copy, printer, etc.)

  • CPCS-Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist - Preferred
