Short Drama Creative Editor Intern

NewsBreak•Mountain View, CA

About The Position

NewsBreak is building ReelBee, an open short-drama distribution platform where qualified creators and studios can self-publish, earn a transparent revenue share, and access US audience insights. The initiative is sponsored by the CEO and operates at the company level. The Creative Editor Intern creates trailers and paid-social content to attract viewers to short dramas, using performance data to understand what captures attention. This is a 3–6 month internship requiring at least 24 hours per week, with openings in Mountain View in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Beijing. US pay is $22–$30 per hour, depending on experience and location.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a film, media, design, or related program.
  • Have short-form video editing work to show and provide portfolio links.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Premiere, CapCut, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Heavy user of short dramas or vertical video, with an understanding of hooks and beat-matching and the ability to explain why an ad creative captures attention.
  • Curious about data and willing to review CTR and CPI and edit accordingly, rather than focusing only on appearance.
  • Able to read and write English subtitles.

Nice To Haves

  • After Effects or motion graphics experience.
  • Familiarity with overseas social ad guidelines.
  • Familiarity with AI editing, subtitle, and voice tools.

Responsibilities

  • Edit short dramas into 15–60 second trailers and acquisition creatives in 9:16 format, with a hook in the first three seconds, for Meta, TikTok, Google ads, and in-app recommendations.
  • Create creatives mainly for titles whose partners have not provided creatives or whose submitted creatives fall short.
  • Quality-check content partner creatives for specifications, subtitles, hooks, and ad-platform policy compliance, and lightly re-edit creatives that do not pass.
  • Produce weekly batches of creative variants, including different hooks, end calls to action, and subtitle styles, according to the growth team's test plan.
  • Iterate on creatives using CTR and CPI data.
  • Run TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram short-drama channels by editing highlight clips and commentary-style content and maintaining a steady posting rhythm.
  • Use AI tools for auto-subtitles, voice-over, translation, and smart editing to increase output and build reusable creative templates.
