Short Drama Creative Editor Intern

NewsBreak•Mountain View, CA
•$22 - $30

About The Position

NewsBreak is building ReelBee, an open short-drama distribution platform where qualified creators and studios can self-publish, earn a transparent revenue share, and receive US audience insights. This CEO-sponsored, company-level initiative seeks a Creative Editor Intern to create trailers and paid-social creatives that attract viewers to short dramas and to use performance data to understand what captures attention. The 3–6 month internship requires at least 24 hours per week and has two openings, hiring in parallel in Mountain View in the San Francisco Bay Area and Beijing. Pay is $22–$30 per hour in the US, depending on experience and location.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a film, media, design, or related program.
  • Have short-form video editing work to show and include portfolio links.
  • Proficient in at least one of Premiere, CapCut, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • A heavy user of short dramas or vertical video who understands hooks and beat-matching and can explain why an ad creative makes people stop scrolling.
  • Curious about data and willing to review CTR and CPI and edit accordingly, not just for visual appeal.
  • Able to read and write English subtitles.

Nice To Haves

  • After Effects or motion graphics experience.
  • Familiarity with overseas social ad guidelines.
  • Familiarity with AI editing, subtitle, and voice tools.

Responsibilities

  • Edit short dramas into 15–60 second trailers and acquisition creatives in 9:16 format, with a hook in the first three seconds, for Meta, TikTok, Google ads, and in-app recommendations. Focus mainly on titles whose partners did not provide creatives or supplied creatives that fall short.
  • Quality-check creatives submitted by content partners for specifications, subtitles, hooks, and ad-platform policy compliance, and lightly re-edit those that do not pass.
  • Produce weekly batches of creative variants, including different hooks, end calls to action, and subtitle styles, according to the growth team's test plan; iterate based on CTR and CPI data.
  • Run TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram short-drama channels by editing highlight clips and commentary-style content and maintaining a steady posting rhythm.
  • Use AI tools for auto-subtitles, voice-over, translation, and smart editing to increase output and build reusable creative templates.
