About The Position

Jerry.ai is seeking a Creative Director, also referred to as the Lead Writer of Interesting Things, to fundamentally change how the company communicates with its customers. The role focuses on shifting messaging from transactional to value-additive and relationship-driven, making car ownership, a typically stressful topic, more accessible and engaging. The Creative Director will be the voice of Jerry, responsible for crafting compelling copy across various channels to build trust, engagement, and community. This is a senior-level individual contributor role with the potential to expand scope into broader creative content production.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in creative marketing with a heavy focus on copywriting.
  • Proven success with email and SMS campaigns.
  • Experience working with consumer startups.
  • A portfolio showcasing both writing and creative craft.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Deep expertise in copywriting, audience development, and product positioning.
  • A great sense of the social media landscape and community dynamics (like Reddit).
  • Ability to translate complex, dry, and stressful topics into engaging, human, and accessible copy.
  • Ability to take qualitative data and user pain points and turn them into resonant, empathetic marketing copy.
  • Experience in fast-growing startups and ability to champion the unmeasurable value of a great brand experience.

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul existing customer communications, including CRM, email, SMS, and in-app copy, transforming messaging from functional and direct to value-additive and relationship-driven.
  • Develop and build the brand's personality and voice across all organic surfaces in partnership with the CEO.
  • Craft email sequences, push notifications, and other customer-facing copy.
  • Engage with customers on platforms like Reddit.
  • Shape messaging for new feature launches.
  • Potentially expand scope to drive customer growth and build brand affinity through producing other creative organic content (e.g., social media) in Phase 2.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Growth, and Customer Insights teams to understand customer needs and build trust and engagement.
