About The Position

Operate various types of cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment on construction sites in Jefferson, LA, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations for Primoris Heavy Civil.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid NCCCO or equivalent nationally recognized crane operator certification for the type of cranes operated (e.g., Lattice Boom, Hydraulic).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable experience operating heavy cranes in a civil construction environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of crane operations, rigging techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and construction plans.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical examination.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, as project demands require.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate hydraulic, lattice boom, and other types of cranes to hoist and move materials such as steel beams, concrete forms, and heavy machinery.
  • Perform pre-operation inspections of cranes and rigging equipment, including checking fluid levels, controls, cables, and structural integrity.
  • Interpret and understand load charts, lifting plans, and hand signals from signal persons and riggers.
  • Communicate effectively with ground crews, signal persons, and supervisors to coordinate lifts and ensure safe material handling.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices for crane operation and heavy lifting.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of crane operations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot minor operational issues and perform basic maintenance as required.
  • Ensure the proper securing of loads and safe maneuvering of the crane in various environmental conditions.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and safety briefings.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents immediately to supervision.
