About The Position

The Bridge Carpenter will perform skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of wooden and concrete bridges and other heavy civil structures. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a bridge carpenter or in a similar heavy civil construction role.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Proficient in using a variety of hand and power tools common to carpentry and concrete work.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in construction, including OSHA requirements.
  • Experience with concrete pouring, finishing, and formwork.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous tasks for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and concrete using carpentry hand tools and power tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine dimensions, materials, and formwork required.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, concrete forms, and other construction materials according to specifications.
  • Build scaffolding, falsework, and temporary structures to support concrete and other construction elements.
  • Pour concrete, ensuring proper placement, leveling, and finishing.
  • Install various bridge components, including deck forms, pilings, and structural supports.
  • Perform rigging and signaling operations for hoisting and moving materials.
  • Inspect and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and adhere to safety standards.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with other team members, supervisors, and engineers to ensure project success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
