About The Position

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Crane and Mobile Mechanical Maintenance teammate to safely perform preventive and corrective maintenance on steel mill equipment and systems. The role calls for honesty, integrity, ownership, and a commitment to team success. During construction, maintenance teammates will help build the mill and develop its computerized maintenance management system to support proper design criteria and equipment reliability. The role requires availability for weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; teammates are expected to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience.
Knowledge of fundamental mechanical theory.
Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
Ability to demonstrate honesty, integrity, ownership, and a commitment to safety.

Nice To Haves

Prior steel mill experience.
1 year of crane maintenance experience.
Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and power train systems.

Responsibilities

Propose and implement innovative solutions to steelmaking-process challenges, focusing on safety, reliability, quality, costs, and project management.
Perform mechanical troubleshooting and periodic maintenance on equipment.
Understand mechanical and electrical schematics.
Apply knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, centralized lubrication systems, alignments, power transmission, and pumps and piping.
Train teammates on new equipment and modifications to existing equipment.
Help build the mill and create its computerized maintenance management system during construction.
Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
