About The Position

AMD’s Cores Organization develops CPUs and caches that support the company’s server, client, and gaming businesses. The CPU Cache Architect will contribute to next-generation core and cache development, focusing on performance modeling, performance analysis, and microarchitecture development. The role is based with a team in Fort Collins, Colorado; remote work may be a possibility. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

C++ programming and scripting language capabilities.
Computer architecture background with industry experience architecting processors, caches, and interconnect.
Familiarity with digital RTL design, software development, and Verilog HDL.
Experience writing and debugging RTL.
Experience collaborating effectively with a diverse, cross-disciplinary team.
Expertise in hardware design.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with a small team of hardware and software engineers to optimize CPU, cache, and interconnect performance.
Develop and enhance cycle-accurate core, cache, and SoC performance simulators.
Develop simulators at other abstraction levels.
Use simulators, analytical methods, emulation, and post-silicon observation and experimentation to develop and evaluate microarchitecture improvements.
Develop and improve tools and methodology for workload performance analysis.
Guide and mentor junior engineers.
