About The Position

Covers Operator 1 is an entry-level manufacturing role responsible for measuring, cutting, and/or moving materials for fabrication according to design drawings and work orders. The position performs quality checks, corrects errors or reworks items as needed, and prepares finished products for transfer or shipment in a timely manner. The role usually reports to an area supervisor, who reports to the Manufacturing ClearSpan Manager.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of corporate production methods and safety procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions and use a tape measure.
• Ability to use tools safely and effectively and handle production raw materials.
• Skill in using tools and equipment, following directions, and solving problems.
• Appropriate communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to interpret drawings and perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Due to safety concerns, individuals who are pregnant, adolescent, or have a pacemaker cannot work on the machines.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Forklift certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up the tools, appliances, machines, fixtures, and materials needed to fabricate assigned products.
• Review work orders for instructions and special requirements.
• Measure, cut, and/or move materials into position for fabrication according to design drawings and work order instructions.
• Inspect completed work for quality and identify errors.
• Learn and perform the heat-sealing process.
• Correct errors or rework products as necessary.
• Prepare finished products for transfer or shipment.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Follow safety and OSHA regulations.
• Assist in fabric operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
