About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The position bags groceries, assists customers at checkout and with loading purchases into their vehicles, maintains shelves and store areas, returns merchandise, gathers shopping carts, and helps customers find products or check prices. It also supports store safety, food safety, equipment maintenance, and customer service throughout the store. The associate is expected to work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment, handle conflict constructively, follow directions and applicable laws and company guidelines, and provide direct support to minors, people with special needs, and older adults. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, aiming to place at least five items in each bag while preventing damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Help remove customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers about grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and report items needing repair to the appropriate department or store manager.
Answer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store, helping customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Follow local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
